Organic vs inorganic forms
Zinc arrives in feeds as inorganic salts (oxide, sulphate) or organic/chelated forms (zinc bound to amino acids or peptides, such as zinc chelate or proteinate). Chelation protects zinc from the ration interactions — notably with other minerals and plant phytate — that reduce absorption of the plain salts. The research base in production animals supports better availability from well-made organic forms, which is why our premix and hoof formulations specify them where the goal justifies the cost. Respecting the limits
Trace elements are regulated for good reason: more is not better, and in food-producing animals zinc inclusion is capped by feed law.
